After working as a milkman and manager at Milton S. Hershey's company, H. B. Reese decided to start his own business and founded the H. B. Reese Candy Company in the basement of his home in Hershey, Pennsylvania, in 1923.
From the very beginning, Reese used Hershey chocolate to make his confections. Thanks to the great success of the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, created in late 1928, Reese decided to cease production of all other candies he had been making until then.
